Blowing Rock's Christmas Parade

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…. Well, that became apparent this weekend as the Blowing Rock, NC Christmas Parade took its annual stroll down Main Street. While passing right in front of our Blue Ridge Mountain Club office, it became clear that the Christmas spirit was in full force. Recognized as North Carolina’s prettiest town in 2010, Blowing Rock has many traditions and seasons to celebrate but this is one of the area’s most cherished events.

Most families celebrate traditions and a visit to Blowing Rock during Thanksgiving break has become increasingly popular not only to see the newly-decorated town but to usher in the holidays. The annual Christmas parade follows Christmas in the Park with the official lighting of the town by the Mayor. Other favorite pastimes include the famous Watauga County "Choose and Cut" Christmas Tree pilgrimage for many families in the nearby cities of Charlotte, Raleigh and Winston-Salem.
