Festival of Lights

On Friday, Nov. 23 at dusk, Chetola Resort becomes a winter wonderland when it turns on the switch and kicks off the 2012 Holiday Season. The official opening of the Festival of Lights features thousands of dazzling bulbs that illuminate Chetola Lake and its surroundings. Thousands of visitors come to Chetola Resort each year to get into the holiday spirit and view this magnificent light display.

Carriage rides will be offered during the Festival of Lights celebration on Friday, Nov. 23 and Saturday, Nov. 24  from 5:30pm to 9:30pm.  The horse-drawn carriages travel around Chetola Lake to the resort’s main entrance where they turn around for the return trip. Rides are first come-first served with reservations beginning at 5:00pm on the day of the ride. The price is $17 for adults, $11 for kids ages  3–12, and free for children 2 and younger.

Kids can also enjoy a sugar rush of sorts by participating in cookie decorating, offered free both nights from 5:30-7:30pm in Chetola’s Kids Camp. And don’t forget to get those Christmas lists ready! All ages can visit with Santa in Timberlake’s Restaurant from 5:30-9:30pm.

The Festival of Lights will remain up through Jan. 27, 2013, which marks the conclusion of Blowing Rock Winterfest.
