Nothing says the beginning of fall like an Appalachian State Football Game. I was excited to hear about our sponsorship of Appalachian State football and the promise of spending an afternoon tailgating and watching the best football team in the league battle on the gridiron. After not seeing the sun in what seemed like weeks, the heavens cleared and a beautiful day emerged from behind the clouds. The Blue Ridge Mountain Club tailgate took place at "Mountaineer Village," which had no shortage of fun game-day activities for adults and kids alike. I enjoyed watching the children hop and slide around in the bouncy castles, wishing I were within the weight and age limit to participate myself. I settled for tossing a game of corn-hole with the husband of a co-worker. Then the game started; a defensive battle between the Apps and the Mocs, in which the home-team came out on top in exciting fashion. Most rushed to their seats and some stayed behind watching the game from afar, close to the food and drinks and from the comfort of the BRMC tailgate. It was a fun afternoon, and the beginning of a great annual tradition for BRMC.
